Our story
The person behind PANAMAtura
Christian Strassnig came to know and love Panama in 1999. Between 2007 and 2011 he explored over 600 kilometres of rainforest in the Chagres and Portobelo National Parks and rediscovered more than 90 percent of the historic Camino Real. Since 2011 he has run trips to the villages along the route and projects for sustainable development and rainforest conservation.

We did a wonderfully exciting hike on the Camino Real with Christian. The history of the gold and silver mule caravans that crossed this route is fascinating, and the meal in the village was excellent. Highly recommended!
Warmly welcomed, we even spotted a sloth on the way, took a walk through the old town and saw the Agua Clara locks with a cruise ship passing through. Punctual, warm, 100% recommended.
A relaxed yet very informative day: the locks, a dugout canoe to a real Emberá village, and so much learned about culture and history. Punctual and reliable.
